Junior Investment Program
What is the Jr. Investment Program?
The Junior Investment Program by 100 Black Men of Los Angeles is an exciting opportunity for high school students of color to delve into the world of finance and the stock market. Sponsored by prominent partners like Wells Fargo, Los Angeles Capital Management, Oaktree Capital, and SIFMA Foundation, this program offers an immersive 4-month Stock Market Simulation Game.
Participants form teams, each entrusted with a simulated $100,000 investment. Beyond competing locally, students engage in a nationwide challenge, showcasing their financial acumen.
This program is free to attend. Components, guidelines, expectations, requirements, and outcomes will be reviewed with participants and parents prior to program commencement.
Goals and Objectives
To provide education and awareness for youth around investing and the stock market.
To provide education and awareness for youth around the need of an emergency fund.
To encourage students to open up an investment account.
To be eligible for the program you must meet the following criteria:
Complete and submit application
Commit to missing no more than 2 class sessions.
Have reliable transportation to West LA College
Be willing to work in teams
Must be in high school (exception for middle school students that have siblings in high school)
