TECHNOLOGY SUMMIT 2019

COURSE OUTLINE

 

The four session YBS Technology Summit will provide students the opportunity to learn about various aspects of technology, ranging from systems analysis to database design.  Sessions will be structured to provide insight into defined technical areas, while also providing a platform for students to ask questions and interact with their peers on hands on projects. 

 

The goal of the four-week summit is to give students a glimpse into the field of Technology, while providing tools that will improve their everyday approach to how they learn.

 

1. YBS Technology Summit Session —

   1. Saturday, March 16, 2019 - 1:00pm till 3:00pm

      • Introductions

      • Insight in fields within technology

      • Overview of four (4) week session agenda

      • Introduction to Project Requirements

      • Introduction to Flow Chart Design using Project Requirements

      • Introduction to Creating Technical Specifications

      • Link above task to actual Technical Job of Business Analyst

      • Break into teams for hands on assignment

      • Review team work

      • Special project assignment (Raffle to those who complete at home)

2. YBS Technology Summit Session —

   1. Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 1:00pm till 3:00pm

      • Go over Special Project Assignment (Select Winner)

      • Discuss aspects of web design

      • Discuss Customer Experience and Web Design

      • Discuss Database Design and Uses

      • Hands on Project – Break into team design a Database Modal

      • Review Teams Database Modals

      • Hands on Project – Break into teams build Database from Modal using SQL Server in Azure Cloud

      • Review each teams Actual Database in Azure Cloud

      • Discuss project

      • Special project assignment (Raffle to those who complete at home)

3. YBS Technology Summit Session —

   1. Saturday, April 13, 2019 - 1:00pm till 3:00pm

      • Go over Special Project Assignment (Select Winner)

      • Discuss software development (Coding)

      • Show samples of coding and types of ways to code

      • Hands on Project – Break into teams and write conceptual code

      • Review teams conceptual code design

      • Provide template web site to each team with concept

      • Hands on Project – Teams will gather and using code samples will alter their web page to meet the desired goal

      • Review teams work

      • Hands on Project – Teams will gather again to complete last steps in web design project

      • Review of hands on teams projects

      • Special project assignment (Raffle to those who complete at home)

   1. Saturday, April 27, 2019 - 1:00pm till 3:00pm

      • Go over Special Project Assignment (Select Winner)

      • Discuss Security within the Technology Field

      • Discuss Internet of Things (IoT)

      • Hands on Project – Security

      • Review Hands on Project

      • Class Celebration and Review
